This is a compilation of Capcom arcade games. I was pretty disappointed when I discovered it’s not the home games like I grew up with this. These are just the arcade games and having Nintendo ports of Commando and Bionic Commando would have been great. This compilation might contain $5,000 worth of quarter eating fun (like the box says), but not even the online leader boards will keep you coming back for more than nostalgia. A lot of the games feel very stale and clunky by today’s standards.
1942 – A top down arcade shooter, blow up planes, its a classic, but feels clunky now.
1943: The Battle of Midway – Same as 1942, only one year later. Its a top down shooter and the challenge has been amped up.
1943 Kai – A special Japanese version of 1943 for the people that love their insane difficulty.
Bionic Commando – I was very disappointed to see this wasn’t the NES version. Its 6 levels of bionic arm swinging fun though. About 30 minutes of fun.
Commando – It is not the NES version and provides some nice challenge, but far less secrets. The arcade version just seems dull.
Exed Exes – Another overhead shooter.
Final Fight – A great beat-em up game! Well worth paying for this compilation. It does get tedious by today’s standards.
Forgotten Worlds – A great horizontal shooter that is well worth playing once a year!
Ghosts ‘n Goblins – This side scrolling Knight vs demonic army is challenging fun, frustratingly challenging fun! Again, its still fun!
Ghouls ‘n Ghosts – The sequel to the previous game, but I feel like the weapons are worse.
Gun.Smoke – Basically its Commando version 2.0. The controls feel clunky.
Legendary Wings – Some say this is a legendary good game, but quite honestly even with its variety of top down shooter and platforming, it feels difficult, like too difficult and not fun.
Mercs – A fun version of Commando 10 years later, blowing things up from a top down view has never been more fun.
Pirate Ship Higemaru – skip it
Section Z – A side scrolling shooter that has new tweaks like shooting in 360 degrees.
SonSon – skip it
Street Fighter II – Same as the arcade! Slow and clunky. This is a fighter vs fighter game with 8 characters to play that we all know and love. Ryu, Ken, Blanka, Chun Li, Dahlsim, Zangief, Honda and Guile.
Street Fighter II’: Champion Edition – Same as the arcade again!
Street Fighter II’ Turbo: Hyper Fighting – Same as the arcade V3! Only faster!
Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts – A great game, same as Ghouls and Ghosts, only more challenge, more weapons, more armor, more enemies, more of everything great about the game!
Trojan – A side scroller without platforms, it feels kind of clunky, but its a good game if you can follow the patterns.
Vulgus – skip it
